Deriv Higher / Lower bots: barriers, payouts and which to run

閱讀約 6 分鐘

Higher / Lower works like Rise / Fall with a barrier added. Instead of finishing above or below the price you entered at, the market has to finish beyond a line set some distance away. That distance, the barrier offset, decides how far the price has to travel and what a win pays. This guide covers how the contract settles, how the offset and tick count change the payout, and the Higher / Lower bots you can run free on BinaryTick.

How Higher / Lower settles

When you buy, Deriv sets the barrier at the entry price plus or minus the offset.

  • Higher wins if the price at expiry is above the barrier. With an entry at 650.00 and an offset of 0.2, the barrier is 650.20.
  • Lower wins if the price at expiry is below the barrier. With the same entry and offset, the barrier is 649.80.

The offset is a price distance, in the index's own units, not a percentage. Deriv sells Higher / Lower by the tick from 5 to 10 ticks. Ask for fewer and Deriv refuses the trade with "Number of ticks must be between 5 and 10".

How the barrier sets the payout

The further the barrier sits from the entry price, the further the market has to move in the same number of ticks, and the more a win pays. These are Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on Volatility 100 on 12 October 2026:

Contract, 5 ticksBarrier offsetPayout on a win
Risenone1.95 USD
Higher+0.12.49 USD
Higher+0.23.34 USD
Higher+0.46.99 USD
Higher+0.840.00 USD

Lower at -0.2 paid the same 3.34 USD as Higher at +0.2. For scale, Volatility 100 moved about 0.13 per tick on average over the 1,000 ticks before those quotes, so +0.8 asks for far more travel in five ticks than the market usually covers, and Deriv prices it that way.

The tick count works the other way. More ticks give the price more time to reach the barrier, so the same barrier pays less: +0.2 over 10 ticks paid 2.80 USD against 3.34 USD over 5.

The Higher / Lower bots on BinaryTick

BinaryTick has 11 Higher / Lower bots, all free, on the Higher / Lower page. Every one ships on Volatility 100 with a Barrier offset of 0.2 and a 5 tick contract, and each buys one side only: the Higher bots set the barrier 0.2 above the entry, the Lower bots 0.2 below. Three trade often: Band Ride, RSI Barrier Trend and Volatility Scaled Barrier. The other eight sit in the Longer scans group and wait for a specific pattern.

Bots that buy Higher.

  • Higher / Lower Trend buys when a fast moving average sits far enough above a slow one.
  • Band Ride buys while the price is between the middle and upper Bollinger Bands, a trend with room left.
  • Pullback Barrier waits for an uptrend, then for the price to dip back close to its average before buying.
  • Higher Low Structure splits recent history in two and buys when the newer low sits above the older one.
  • Drift Confirm needs a long stretch and a short stretch both pointing up, with the recent pace on course to clear the barrier.
  • Squeeze Break Sniper waits for an unusually narrow Bollinger channel and buys when the price breaks above it.

Bots that buy Lower.

  • RSI Barrier Trend buys when RSI crosses below its midline and an EMA agrees on the direction.
  • Candle Body Barrier reads completed one-minute candles and buys after a down candle whose body made up most of its range.
  • Slope Projection projects a moving average's slope over the contract and buys when the downtrend accounts for a real share of the market's usual movement, 35% at the default Trend share.
  • Range Break Barrier buys when the price drops below the low of its recent range.
  • Volatility Scaled Barrier only trades while the market is moving enough to reach the barrier, and buys Lower when the price is below its moving average.

Every bot explains its rule under How it works on its card, and every number it uses is under Settings, so you can read a bot before you press Run bot.

The settings that matter

Barrier offset. The dial from the table above. Moving it further out raises the payout and asks the market to travel further. Bring it closer and each win pays less.

Duration (ticks). From 5 to 10. A longer contract gives the price more time and pays less at the same barrier.

Martingale. These bots ship with a 1.5x martingale and a max stake of 4 USD. The ladder runs 1, 1.5, 2.25, then 3.375 USD before the max stake sends it back to 1 USD. At the 3.34 USD payout quoted above, a win at 3.375 USD returns about 7.90 USD in profit, more than the 4.75 USD lost on the three trades before it, so 1.5x wins back the whole run. That holds while a 1 USD win pays more than about 2.41 USD, so if you bring the barrier closer, check the payout before relying on the ladder. Untick Use martingale for a flat stake.

Max losses in a row, stop loss and take profit. The bots stop after 6 losses in a row by default, and after the session is 10 USD down or 10 USD up. Set these to amounts that suit your balance before you run.

Higher / Lower or Rise / Fall?

Rise / Fall pays when the price finishes anywhere on the right side of the entry, so the smallest move counts. Higher / Lower asks for a set distance and pays more for it. If your read on the market is about direction alone, the Rise / Fall bots fit. If you expect a move of a certain size, Higher / Lower lets you be paid for that. Rise / Fall vs Higher / Lower compares the two side by side.

Run one now

Open the Higher / Lower bots and run one on your demo balance first. Band Ride is a good place to start: it trades often, so you will see the barrier, the 1.5x ladder and a few settled contracts inside a short session. Then try moving the Barrier offset a step at a time and watch how the payout on each win changes. For how the martingale ladder works across BinaryTick bots, see the martingale guide.
