Rise / Fall vs Higher / Lower on Deriv: which to trade
閱讀約 4 分鐘
Rise / Fall and Higher / Lower both ask which way the price will go. The difference is the line the price has to beat. Rise / Fall measures from the entry price, so the smallest move in your direction wins. Higher / Lower measures from a barrier set some distance away, so the price has to travel that far before the contract pays. In return, Higher / Lower pays more: on Volatility 100 over 5 ticks, a 1 USD Rise pays 1.95 USD and a 1 USD Higher at +0.2 pays 3.34 USD.
How the line moves
Take an entry at 640.00 on a 5 tick contract.
- Rise wins if the price 5 ticks later is above 640.00.
- Higher with a +0.2 barrier wins if the price 5 ticks later is above 640.20.
If the price finishes at 640.12, Rise wins and Higher loses: the move was in the right direction, but not far enough. If it finishes at 640.25, both win, and Higher pays more for the same move. Fall and Lower work the same way below the entry. In both contracts a price that finishes exactly on the line loses.
What each pays
These are Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on Volatility 100 over 5 ticks.
| Contract | Line to beat | Payout on a win |
|---|---|---|
| Rise | the entry | 1.95 USD |
| Higher | entry +0.1 | 2.49 USD |
| Higher | entry +0.2 | 3.34 USD |
| Higher | entry +0.4 | 6.99 USD |
Rise pays the same 1.95 USD at 1, 5 and 10 ticks. Higher / Lower pays less as the contract gets longer, because more ticks give the price more time to reach the barrier: +0.2 over 10 ticks paid 2.80 USD.
What changes in practice
How far the price has to go. Rise / Fall only asks for the right direction. Higher / Lower asks for the right direction and a set distance by the last tick; the Higher / Lower guide compares that distance with how far Volatility 100 usually moves.
How long the contract runs. Most Rise / Fall bots on BinaryTick run between 1 and 5 ticks, and one buys a 60 second contract so it can sell early. The Higher / Lower bots all run 5 ticks.
How the martingale is sized. The 22 Rise / Fall bots that use a martingale ship at 2.1x with a 5 USD max stake: 1, 2.1, then 4.41 USD, and a win at 4.41 USD repays the two losses before it. The Higher / Lower bots pay more per win, so they ship at 1.5x with a 4 USD max stake: 1, 1.5, 2.25, then 3.375 USD. At the +0.2 barrier one Higher win at 3.375 USD repays the run too, as long as a 1 USD win pays more than about 2.41 USD; bring the barrier closer and check the payout first. The Higher / Lower guide works through that ladder.
Which to trade
Pick Rise / Fall when your read is about direction alone and you want the smallest move to count. Rise / Fall Momentum waits for a run of ticks in one direction and trades the continuation, on Volatility 100 over 5 ticks. The Rise / Fall bots have 24 rules to choose from.
Pick Higher / Lower when you expect a move of a certain size and want to be paid for it. Band Ride trades a trend while the price sits between the middle and upper Bollinger Bands, a channel around the price that widens and narrows with how much the market is moving, on the same market and duration. The Higher / Lower bots offer 11 setups.
Each family has its own guide with every bot and setting: the Rise / Fall bots guide and the Higher / Lower bots guide. For a contract that pays on reaching a level at any point rather than finishing past it, see Touch / No Touch.
Run one now
Run Rise / Fall Momentum and Band Ride on your demo balance, one after the other. Both trade Volatility 100 over 5 ticks. They read the market differently and stake differently, so watch the contracts themselves: the line each one has to beat, and what each win pays.
