Even / Odd vs Over / Under on Deriv: which to trade
閱讀約 4 分鐘
Even / Odd and Over / Under both settle on the last digit of the price, and they can pay exactly the same. Even / Odd always splits the ten digits five and five, so a win always pays the same. Over / Under lets you choose where to split them, from one winning digit to nine, and the payout moves with that choice. At Over 4 or Under 5 the two contracts win on five digits each and pay the same 1.95 USD on a 1 USD stake. Everywhere else, Over / Under trades a different balance of how many digits win against what a win pays.
How each contract picks the winning digits
Even wins on 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8, and Odd on 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Zero counts as even. There is nothing to set: five digits win either way.
Over wins on digits above the barrier you pick, and Under on digits below it. The barrier digit itself loses both ways. Over 4 wins on 5 to 9, five digits. Under 8 wins on 0 to 7, eight digits.
How the payouts compare
These are Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on a one tick contract. They were the same on Volatility 10, 25 and 100 and on Volatility 100 (1s), because a digit's odds do not depend on the market.
| Digits that win | Contracts | Payout on a win |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Over 0, Under 9 | 1.09 USD |
| 8 | Over 1, Under 8 | 1.23 USD |
| 7 | Over 2, Under 7 | 1.40 USD |
| 6 | Over 3, Under 6 | 1.63 USD |
| 5 | Over 4, Under 5, Even, Odd | 1.95 USD |
| 4 | Over 5, Under 4 | 2.43 USD |
| 3 | Over 6, Under 3 | 3.21 USD |
| 2 | Over 7, Under 2 | 4.72 USD |
| 1 | Over 8, Under 1 | 8.93 USD |
Over and Under mirror each other: Over 1 and Under 8 both win on eight digits and both pay 1.23 USD. Even / Odd sits on the five-digit row with Over 4 and Under 5.
What changes in practice
How many digits win against what a win pays. Even / Odd fixes this at five digits and 1.95 USD. Over / Under lets you move along the table. Under 8 wins on eight digits and pays 0.23 USD profit per 1 USD. Over 7 wins on two and pays 3.72 USD profit.
What a losing trade costs you to win back. With a flat 1 USD stake, one Even / Odd win of 0.95 USD nearly covers one 1 USD loss. On Under 8 the same loss takes five wins at 0.23 USD to repay.
What the martingale can do. Most bots in both families ship with a 2.1x martingale and a 5 USD max stake, a ladder of 1, 2.1 and 4.41 USD. On Even / Odd a win at 4.41 USD returns about 4.19 USD in profit, more than the 3.10 USD lost on the two trades before it, so one win repays the run. On Under 8 a win at 4.41 USD returns about 1.01 USD, so the ladder repays part of the run and leaves the rest to later wins. At 2.1x, one win repays the run on the five-digit row and part of it on the eight-digit rows.
Which to trade
Pick Even / Odd when you want every win to pay the same and a martingale to repay a losing run in one win. The Even / Odd bots are the place to start: Even / Odd Switcher sticks with one side until it loses, then switches.
Pick Over / Under when you want to choose the balance yourself. Under 8 and Over 1 win on eight digits each and pay small wins. Digit Sprint buys Over 2, seven digits, on a 1s index. The Over / Under bots cover the rest of the range.
Each family has its own guide with every bot and setting: the Even / Odd bots guide and the Over / Under bots guide. For Matches / Differs as well, see Deriv digit bots explained.
Run one now
Run Even / Odd Switcher and Under 8 on your demo balance, one after the other, for the same number of trades. Even / Odd Switcher's wins and losses come close to the same size. Under 8's wins come small, with a larger loss when the digit lands on 8 or 9. Watching both in the run panel shows the difference faster than any table.
