Digit bots on Deriv's Jump indices: what changes

4 мин унших

Deriv's Jump indices offer every digit contract, and a digit bot pays exactly the same on them as on the Volatility indices. What changes is the pace: Jump indices tick every second, twice as fast as the standard Volatility indices. The jumps that give them their name move the price, and leave the odds of the last digit where they are. This guide covers what a digit bot sees on a Jump index, what stays the same, and how to move a bot there.

What the Jump indices are

Deriv describes them this way: "Expect prices to leap every 20 minutes (on average), with an equal chance of soaring or plunging around 30x the normal volatility of the index." There are five, Jump 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100, named after their volatility: 10% for Jump 10, up to 100% for Jump 100.

What changes for a digit bot

Ticks arrive every second. We timed 1,000 ticks on Jump 10 and Jump 100 at one second apart, against two seconds on Volatility 10 and Volatility 100. A one tick contract settles in about a second, so a session at the same settings plays out in about half the time, as it does on the 1s indices.

The last digit is the second decimal. Every Jump index is quoted to 2 decimal places, so a price of 120.64 has a last digit of 4. Volatility 10 is quoted to 3 decimals, so its last digit sits one place further along. Either way the contract settles on the final digit shown.

The jumps move the price, not the digit odds. A jump can carry the price a long way in one tick, which matters a great deal to a Rise / Fall trade. A digit contract only reads the final digit of the price, and after a jump that digit is as likely to be any of 0 to 9 as after any other tick.

What stays the same

The payouts. These are Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on a one tick contract, and they matched the Volatility indices exactly:

ContractJump indicesVolatility indices
Under 81.23 USD1.23 USD
Even or Odd1.95 USD1.95 USD
Differs 51.09 USD1.09 USD
Matches 58.93 USD8.93 USD

Under 8 paid 1.23 USD on all five Jump indices. The contract decides what wins and what it pays; the market only decides how fast the ticks come.

Which bots can move to a Jump index

Jump indices offer Rise / Fall, Rise / Fall Equal, every digit contract (Over / Under, Even / Odd, Matches / Differs) and Multipliers. That covers five of the 13 bot families on BinaryTick:

  • Can move to a Jump index: the Over / Under, Even / Odd, Matches / Differs, Rise / Fall and Rise / Fall Equal bots.
  • Stay on their own markets: Touch / No Touch, Asians, Only Ups / Only Downs, High / Low Ticks, Stays In / Goes Out, Ends Between / Ends Outside and Reset Call / Reset Put. Deriv does not list their contracts on any Jump index.
  • Higher / Lower: pick a Jump index on the card and read the note under the market field, which tells you when a market will not work for the bot.

To switch, open a bot's card and pick Jump 10, 25, 50, 75 or 100 in the market field before you press Run bot. Every other setting stays as it was. One bot already ships on a Jump index: Rise / Fall Switcher, on Jump 50.

Which Jump index to pick

For a digit bot, any of the five. They differ in how far the price moves, and the last digit does not care how far the price moved. Pick the one whose chart you like watching. For a Rise / Fall bot the choice matters more, because a jump in your direction or against it decides the trade; the Rise / Fall bots guide covers how market and duration shape those.

Run one now

Open Under 8, switch its market to Jump 25 and run it on your demo balance first. The stake, the payout and the rule are the same as on Volatility 10; the ticks come twice as fast. For more on picking a market for a digit bot, see Digit Differs on Volatility 10, 75 or 100 and Over / Under on the 1s indices.
