Oscar's Grind on Deriv: how the stake moves, step by step
5 daqiqalik o'qish
Oscar's Grind is a staking system that raises the stake after a win and keeps it the same after a loss. It works in cycles: once a cycle has made its target profit, the stake drops back to where it started and a new cycle begins. Deriv's Bot Builder lists it among its Quick Strategies, next to Martingale and D'Alembert, and BinaryTick runs it as a free bot you can read and tune before you press Run bot.
How Oscar's Grind moves the stake
The Oscar's Grind bot on BinaryTick, one of the free Rise / Fall bots, follows four rules, each shown on its card.
- After a loss, the stake stays where it is.
- After a win, the stake rises by the Step size, 1 USD by default.
- When the cycle's profit reaches the Cycle target, 1 USD by default, the stake drops back to the Initial stake and the cycle starts over.
- The stake never climbs past the Max stake, 6 USD by default.
A martingale raises the stake after a loss, so its largest stakes land at the end of a losing run. Oscar's Grind raises only after a win, so every trade in a losing run costs the same amount.
A cycle, worked through with real payouts
The bot trades one tick Rise / Fall on Volatility 10, buying Rise after an up tick and Fall after a down tick. On 12 October 2026 Deriv paid 1.95 USD on a 1 USD stake, 3.91 USD on 2 USD and 5.86 USD on 3 USD. Here is one cycle at the default settings, with a mix of wins and losses:
| Trade | Stake | Result | Profit on the trade | Cycle profit | Next stake |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 USD | Win | +0.95 | +0.95 | 2 USD |
| 2 | 2 USD | Loss | -2.00 | -1.05 | 2 USD |
| 3 | 2 USD | Loss | -2.00 | -3.05 | 2 USD |
| 4 | 2 USD | Win | +1.91 | -1.14 | 3 USD |
| 5 | 3 USD | Win | +2.86 | +1.72 | 1 USD |
Trade 1 is a win, but 0.95 is short of the 1 USD target, so the stake steps up to 2 USD. Trades 2 and 3 lose, and the stake holds at 2 USD for both. Trade 4 wins and the stake steps to 3 USD. Trade 5 lifts the cycle to 1.72 USD, past the target, so the cycle closes and the stake goes back to 1 USD.
The table shows two details. A win at the starting stake pays 0.95 against a 1 USD target, so at the defaults every cycle needs at least two wins. And the bot closes a cycle as soon as its profit reaches the target, so a cycle can end above 1 USD, as this one did.
What a losing run looks like
A losing run costs the current stake on every trade. If it starts while the stake is at 1 USD, five losses cost 5 USD. If it starts after a few wins have pushed the stake up, each loss costs more, up to the 6 USD ceiling.
Three limits end a session on the card. Stop loss stops the bot once the session is 10 USD or more down. It checks after each trade, so a loss at a higher stake can take the session past 10 USD before it stops. Max losses in a row stops it after 8 losses in a row, which mostly matters at a 1 USD stake: from 2 USD up, the stop loss usually arrives first. Take profit stops it once the session is 10 USD up. Every run starts these totals from zero.
Oscar's Grind or martingale?
Both systems try to finish a stretch of trading ahead, and they spread the risk in opposite ways.
- Martingale recovers a losing run with one win, as long as the win comes before the stake reaches the max stake and the ladder resets. The cost is a few large stakes at the end of a bad run. The martingale guide works through the ladder BinaryTick bots use.
- Oscar's Grind keeps each loss the same size and climbs out of a hole one win at a time. A deep losing run takes several wins to recover, so a session can run longer before it closes a cycle.
If you want flat losses and gradual recovery, Oscar's Grind fits. If you want a short losing run cleared by one win, use a martingale bot with a max stake you are comfortable with.
The settings that matter
Step size. How much a win adds to the stake. A smaller step climbs more slowly and keeps losing trades cheaper.
Cycle target. The profit that closes a cycle. Raise it and cycles run longer with larger stakes. Set it to 0.95 or less at a 1 USD starting stake and a cycle that opens with a win closes on that trade.
Max stake. The ceiling for the stake. It caps what any single loss can cost.
Cooldown after a loss (ticks). The bot sits out this many ticks after a losing trade before it trades again, 1 by default.
Using Oscar's Grind from Deriv's Bot Builder
If you built an Oscar's Grind bot with Deriv's Quick Strategy, you can bring the XML file to BinaryTick and run it there: open Bot Builder, press Load and pick the file. The XML upload guide walks through it. Deriv's version sizes the stake so that a win lands the cycle on its target, so its stakes will not match the table above. To see the rules this post describes, open BinaryTick's own Oscar's Grind bot with Edit in Bot Builder.
Run it now
Open Oscar's Grind and run it on your demo balance first. Watch a few cycles: the stake climbs after wins, holds through losses and drops back to 1 USD each time a cycle reaches its target. Then try a smaller Step size or a different Cycle target and see how the cycles change. Oscar's Grind trades Rise / Fall, and the Rise / Fall bots guide covers the rest of that family.
