Deriv Reset Call / Reset Put bots: how the barrier resets
7 dk okuma
Reset Call and Reset Put are Deriv contracts on direction with a second chance built in. A Reset Call pays if the exit price finishes above the entry price, like Rise. The difference comes halfway through: if the price is below the entry at that point, Deriv moves the barrier down to that price, and the contract only has to finish above the new level. Reset Put works the same way downwards. This guide covers how the reset works, what the contract pays, and the Reset Call / Reset Put bots you can run free on BinaryTick.
How Reset Call and Reset Put settle
Deriv's own wording for a 6 tick Reset Call on Volatility 100 is: "Win payout if Volatility 100 Index after 6 ticks is strictly higher than it was at either entry or 3 ticks." Tick 3 is the reset point.
Here is a real run of Volatility 100 ticks:
| Tick | Price |
|---|---|
| Entry | 672.83 |
| 1 | 672.67 |
| 2 | 672.47 |
| 3 | 672.35 |
| 4 | 672.93 |
| 5 | 672.61 |
| 6 (exit) | 672.69 |
At tick 3 the price, 672.35, is below the entry, so the barrier resets to 672.35. The exit at 672.69 is above it, and the Reset Call pays. A plain Rise on the same ticks loses, because 672.69 finished below the 672.83 entry.
If the price is above the entry at the reset point, nothing moves and the contract settles against the entry, the same way as Rise. The reset can only move the barrier in your favour. If the exit equals the barrier, the contract does not pay.
When the reset happens
The reset point is halfway through the contract, rounded down. Deriv sells Reset Call / Reset Put from 5 to 10 ticks:
| Duration | Reset at tick |
|---|---|
| 5 ticks | 2 |
| 6 ticks | 3 |
| 7 ticks | 3 |
| 8 ticks | 4 |
| 9 ticks | 4 |
| 10 ticks | 5 |
A longer contract gives the price more ticks after the reset to finish above the new barrier, and more ticks before it to fall away from the entry.
What Reset Call and Reset Put pay
The second chance is priced in. Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on Volatility 100:
| Contract | 5 ticks | 6 ticks | 10 ticks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reset Call or Reset Put | 1.61 USD | 1.57 USD | 1.57 USD |
| Rise or Fall | 1.95 USD | 1.95 USD | 1.95 USD |
A Reset win returns about 0.57 to 0.61 USD on each 1 USD staked, against 0.95 USD on Rise / Fall. The quotes were the same on Volatility 10, 25 and 75 and on the 1s indices.
Deriv offers Reset Call / Reset Put on every Volatility index, the standard ones and the 1s versions. It does not offer it on the Jump, Step, Crash, Boom, Range Break or Bull / Bear indices.
The Reset Call / Reset Put bots on BinaryTick
BinaryTick has 2 Reset bots, both free, on the Reset Call / Reset Put page. Both ship on Volatility 100 with a 6 tick contract, so the reset falls on tick 3. Each explains its rule under How it works on its card, and every number it uses is under Settings.
- Reset Rider follows the trend with two moving averages, a fast 8-tick EMA and a slow 25-tick average. While the fast one sits above the slow one, it buys Reset Call; while it sits below, Reset Put. It does not wait for any further confirmation, because an entry that goes wrong at first still has the reset to fall back on. It is in the Quick entries group.
- Reset Fade trades against a stretched market. It reads RSI, a 0 to 100 score of how one-sided the recent ticks have been. At 68 or above it buys Reset Put, and at 32 or below Reset Call. It does not wait for the turn. If the push carries on after the entry and the trade is still behind at tick 3, the barrier resets to that stretched price. It is in the Longer scans group.
For how RSI is worked out, with real ticks, see the RSI strategy guide.
The settings that matter
Duration (ticks). From 5 to 10, 6 by default. The reset falls at half the duration, as the table above shows. A 5 tick contract pays the most, 1.61 USD on a 1 USD stake, but resets on tick 2, which leaves less time for a trade to go wrong and then recover.
Fast average period and Slow average period. On Reset Rider, 8 and 25 ticks. Shorter averages swap sides more often, so the bot changes direction more often. Longer ones hold a direction for longer.
Overbought level and Oversold level. On Reset Fade, 68 and 32, with a 14-tick RSI period. The card's pace note says it: "Move the overbought and oversold levels towards 50 to trade more often."
Martingale. Both bots ship with a 2.1x martingale and a max stake of 5 USD, so the ladder runs 1, 2.1, then 4.41 USD before the max stake sends it back to 1 USD. A Reset win returns 0.57 USD on each 1 USD staked, less than Rise / Fall, so the ladder needs a steeper multiplier to repay a losing run. At 2.1x, a win at 2.1 USD repays the 1 USD loss before it with 0.20 USD to spare, while a win at 4.41 USD returns 2.51 USD against the 3.10 USD lost before it.
You have two simple options. Untick Use martingale for a flat stake, so every win adds the same 0.57 USD. Or set the Martingale multiplier to 2.6 and the Max stake to 7, and a win at any step of the ladder finishes the sequence ahead. Deriv's quotes for that ladder at 6 ticks:
| Win after | Stake | Lost before it | Profit on the win | Sequence ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 losses | 1 USD | 0 | 0.57 USD | 0.57 USD up |
| 1 loss | 2.60 USD | 1.00 USD | 1.48 USD | 0.48 USD up |
| 2 losses | 6.76 USD | 3.60 USD | 3.85 USD | 0.25 USD up |
The next step would be 17.58 USD, past the 7 USD max stake, so the ladder returns to 1 USD. The martingale guide explains the ladder in full.
Max losses in a row, stop loss and take profit. Both bots stop after 4 losses in a row by default, and once the session is 10 USD down or 10 USD up. The stop loss is checked after each trade, so a session close to it can place one more trade at up to the max stake. The stop loss and take profit guide covers each limit. Set them to amounts that suit your balance before you run.
Reset Call or Rise?
Both pay on direction. Rise pays more, 1.95 USD on a 1 USD stake against 1.57 USD at 6 ticks, and settles only on the exit against the entry. Reset Call pays less and forgives a bad start: a trade that is behind halfway through gets a new, lower barrier to beat. If your read is about where the price ends up, see the Rise / Fall bots guide. If your entries tend to be early, the reset is built for that.
Run one now
Open the Reset Call / Reset Put bots and run one on your demo balance first. Reset Rider is a good place to start: it trades often and buys both sides, so within a short session you will see contracts where the barrier moves at tick 3. Then untick Use martingale and watch each win add the same 0.57 USD.
