Deriv High / Low Ticks bots: naming the highest or lowest tick
6 நிமிட வாசிப்பு
High / Low Ticks is a Deriv contract on which of the next five ticks will be the most extreme. You pick High Tick or Low Tick, and you name a tick from 1 to 5. High Tick pays if the tick you named is the highest of the five, and Low Tick pays if it is the lowest. Where the price ends up does not matter. This guide covers how the contract settles, what each tick pays, and the High / Low Ticks bots you can run free on BinaryTick.
How High / Low Ticks settles
Deriv's own wording for the contract is: "Win payout if tick 1 of Volatility 100 Index is the highest among all 5 ticks." The contract always runs for exactly 5 ticks.
Say you buy High Tick on tick 5, and the next five ticks on Volatility 100 come in at 658.80, 658.86, 658.83, 658.91 and 658.95. Tick 5 is the highest of the five, so the contract pays. If tick 5 had come in at 658.90 instead, tick 4 would have been the highest and the contract would lose, even though the price still finished higher than it started.
Deriv sells High / Low Ticks on every Volatility index, the standard ones and the 1s versions. It does not offer it on the Jump, Crash, Boom, Step, Range Break or Bull / Bear indices.
What each tick pays
The payout depends on which tick you name. These are Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on Volatility 100:
| Tick named | High Tick pays | Low Tick pays |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3.51 USD | 3.51 USD |
| 2 | 5.95 USD | 5.95 USD |
| 3 | 6.54 USD | 6.54 USD |
| 4 | 5.95 USD | 5.95 USD |
| 5 | 3.51 USD | 3.51 USD |
The first and last ticks pay the least. When the price drifts one way for five ticks, its high or low lands at one of the ends: a market ticking up makes its high on tick 5, and one ticking down makes it on tick 1. Deriv prices the ends as the likelier places for the extreme, and the middle tick, which needs the price to rise and then fall back, pays the most.
The quote for tick 5 was the same 3.51 USD on Volatility 10 and on Volatility 100 (1s). The market you pick changes how big the ticks are and, on the 1s indices, how fast they arrive, but not what the contract pays.
The High / Low Ticks bots on BinaryTick
BinaryTick has 3 High / Low Ticks bots, all free, on the High / Low Ticks page. Every one ships on Volatility 100 with the 5 tick contract. Each explains its rule under How it works on its card, and every number it uses is under Settings.
- Tick Extremes measures how straight the market has been moving. Over the last 20 ticks it divides the distance the price ended up from where it started by the total ground it covered along the way. A straight run scores near 1; a market that keeps doubling back scores near 0. At 0.4 or above it names tick 5: the highest tick if the run was up, the lowest if it was down. It sits in the Longer scans group, because a straight run is the exception.
- Tick Spike Scanner looks at what has been happening rather than at the trend. It walks back through the last 20 blocks of five ticks and records which position held the highest tick of each block. When one position leads the runner-up by at least 4 blocks, it buys High Tick on that position. If the leader is tick 3, a 1 USD stake pays 6.54 USD.
- RSI Tick Pick reads RSI, a 0 to 100 score of how one-sided the recent ticks have been. At 60 or above it names tick 5 as the highest, and at 40 or below tick 5 as the lowest. In between it waits.
Tick Extremes and RSI Tick Pick both name tick 5, the end of the window, where a moving market makes its extreme. Tick Spike Scanner names whichever position its count points to.
The settings that matter
Tick to name. On Tick Extremes and RSI Tick Pick (where it is called Predicted tick), the position the bot names, 5 by default. Moving it towards the middle raises the payout, as the table shows, and asks the price to turn inside the five ticks.
Trend threshold and Measuring window (ticks). On Tick Extremes, how straight the run has to be, 0.4 by default, and how many ticks it measures over, 20 by default. Its card says to lower the threshold to trade more often.
Blocks scanned and Lead required. On Tick Spike Scanner, how many five-tick blocks it counts, 20 by default, and how far ahead the leading position has to be, 4 blocks by default. A smaller lead trades more.
Overbought level, Oversold level and RSI period. On RSI Tick Pick, 60, 40 and 14 ticks. Moving the levels towards 50 trades more; moving them out towards 70 and 30 trades less. A shorter period swings to the levels more often.
Martingale. These bots ship with a 2.1x martingale and a 5 USD max stake. The ladder runs 1, 2.1, then 4.41 USD before the max stake sends it back to 1 USD. A High / Low Ticks win pays well over the stake, so a win anywhere on the ladder more than repays the run before it: at 4.41 USD on tick 5, Deriv paid 15.47 USD, a profit of 11.06 USD against the 3.10 USD lost on the two trades before it. Untick Use martingale for a flat stake.
Max losses in a row, stop loss and take profit. The bots stop after 4 losses in a row by default, which at the defaults is 1, 2.1, 4.41 and 1 USD, 8.51 USD in all. They also stop once the session is 10 USD down or 10 USD up. The stop loss is checked after each trade, so a session sitting just under 10 USD down can place one more trade at up to 4.41 USD and end just over 14 USD down. Set the limits to amounts that suit your balance before you run.
High / Low Ticks or Rise / Fall?
Rise / Fall asks one question about the price: is it higher or lower at the end than at the start? High / Low Ticks asks about the shape of the next five ticks. A market that rises and then dips on the last tick, but still finishes above where it started, wins Rise but loses High Tick on tick 5. The narrower question is why High / Low Ticks pays several times the stake. If your read is only about direction, see the Rise / Fall bots guide.
Run one now
Open the High / Low Ticks bots and run one on your demo balance first. RSI Tick Pick is a good place to start: it trades often and buys both sides, so within a short session you will see High Tick and Low Tick settle. Then change its Predicted tick to 3 to trade the 6.54 USD payout instead of 3.51 USD. For how the martingale ladder sizes each stake, see the martingale guide.
