Why did my Deriv bot stop? The limits that end a session

3 мин чтения

Your bot was trading, and now it has stopped. On BinaryTick that almost always means one of the bot's own limits did its job. Knowing which one tells you whether to run it again as it is or change a number first.

The check after every trade

Each time a trade settles, the bot adds the result to its session total and updates its losing streak. Then it asks three questions. It places the next trade only if all three answers are yes:

  1. Is the session profit still below Take profit?
  2. Is the session loss still smaller than Stop loss?
  3. Is the losing streak still shorter than Max losses in a row?

The moment any answer is no, the bot stops. There is no error and nothing to fix. The session is over because you set where it should end.

Which limit was it?

Open the run panel and look at the Summary and Transactions tabs.

Take profit. The total profit reached the target. Every bot ships with a take profit of 10. A finished session at take profit is the result you were aiming for.

Stop loss. The session loss reached the limit. Every bot ships with a stop loss of 10, so a session cannot quietly run into the rest of your balance.

Max losses in a row. The bot lost several trades back to back and reached the limit before the stop loss. This catches a bad run by its pattern rather than its size. Most bots ship at 4. Under 8, Over 1, Over 3 / Under 7, Digit Differs and Even / Odd Switcher ship at 5; Lucky Digit and Fibonacci Recovery at 6; Oscar's Grind at 8; Paroli Streak at 10; Hot and Cold Digit Match at 12; and Slow Ladder at 20.

If you pressed Stop yourself, you will see "Bot stopped. Check Reports for contract history", and every trade from the session is in Reports.

Why a session can end a little past the stop loss

The check runs after each trade settles, not before it is placed. So the trade that crosses the stop loss is a full trade at whatever stake the bot was on. If a session is down 9 and the next stake is 2.1, a loss takes it to 11.1 before the bot stops.

The bots' staking accounts for this. A bot that uses a martingale pairs it with a max stake, and when the next stake would pass that cap, it goes back to the initial stake. With the defaults, an initial stake of 1, 2.1x and a max stake of 5, the largest single stake is 4.41, which keeps the overshoot small and predictable. Raise the initial stake or the max stake and that figure rises with them, so check it whenever you change either. If you want a firm ceiling, set the stop loss a little below the most you are prepared to lose.

Starting the next session

Press Run bot again. Every run starts fresh: the session total and the losing streak go back to zero, and the stake returns to the initial stake.

Before you do, decide whether the limit that ended the session suits you:

  • Ended at take profit often? Keep it. Or raise it if you want longer sessions.
  • Ended at max losses in a row quickly? Look at the contract. On Matches, where wins are rare, a longer limit suits the bot; on Differs or Under 8, a short limit rarely triggers.
  • Ended at the stop loss? Try flat staking for a while by unticking Use martingale, or lower the initial stake, and watch how the next session plays out.

Change one number at a time, so you can see what each one does.

Run it again

Open the Bots page, set the limits on the card to amounts you are comfortable with, and press Run bot on your demo balance. If a bot never starts trading at all, see why a Deriv bot is not placing trades.
