Deriv Ends Between and Stays Between bots: the range contracts
7 min de leitura
Deriv has two contracts that put a barrier above the price and another below it, and ask about the range between them. Ends Between and Ends Outside look only at where the price finishes. Stays Between and Goes Outside look at the whole path: one touch of either barrier settles them. Neither cares which way the market moves, only how far. This guide covers how each pair settles, what they pay, and the free bots on BinaryTick that trade them.
How the two pairs settle
When you buy, Deriv sets both barriers from the entry price. With an entry at 658.00 and barriers 1.20 either side, the range runs from 656.80 to 659.20. Deriv's own wording for each contract:
- Ends Between: "Win payout if Volatility 100 Index ends strictly between entry spot minus 1.20 to entry spot plus 1.20" at the end of the contract.
- Ends Outside: wins if it "ends outside" that range.
- Stays Between: "Win payout if Volatility 100 Index stays between entry spot minus 1.20 and entry spot plus 1.20 through" the contract.
- Goes Outside: wins if it "goes outside" that range at any point.
The difference shows when the price leaves the range and comes back. Say it climbs to 659.40 in the second minute and finishes at 658.50. Ends Between wins, because the price ended inside. Stays Between loses, because the price touched the upper barrier on the way.
Both pairs run by the minute, from 2 minutes up to a day, and by the day. Deriv does not sell them by the tick. They are available on every Volatility index, standard and 1s, and on the Bull / Bear indices, but not on Jump, Crash, Boom or Step. In the BinaryTick app the second pair is called Stays In / Goes Out.
What they pay
The distance to the barriers sets the payout. These are Deriv's quotes for a 1 USD stake on Volatility 100 over 5 minutes:
| Barriers either side | Ends Between | Ends Outside | Stays Between | Goes Outside |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.6 | 4.09 USD | 1.28 USD | 40.00 USD | no return |
| 1.2 | 2.19 USD | 1.76 USD | 13.59 USD | 1.04 USD |
| 2.2 | 1.36 USD | 3.44 USD | 2.01 USD | 1.90 USD |
| 4.4 | 1.01 USD | 23.59 USD | 1.04 USD | 15.18 USD |
For scale, over the 1,000 ticks before those quotes, the price on Volatility 100 typically finished about 1.5 away from where it started after 5 minutes.
Stays Between pays more than Ends Between with the same barriers, and far more when the barriers are close, because the price has to stay inside for the whole contract rather than only at the end. With close barriers Goes Outside pays little: 1.04 USD at 1.2 either side. At 0.6 Deriv would not sell it at all, quoting that the contract offers no return.
Time pulls the other way. More time gives the price more room to wander out of the range, so a longer contract acts like closer barriers: with barriers 1.2 either side, Ends Between paid 1.50 USD over 2 minutes and 3.59 USD over 15 minutes.
The bots on BinaryTick
BinaryTick has 4 free bots for these contracts: 2 on the Ends Between / Ends Outside page and 2 on the Stays In / Goes Out page. All four ship on Volatility 100 with a 5 minute contract, and hold one position at a time. Each explains its rule under How it works on its card, and every number it uses is under Settings.
Ends Between / Ends Outside. These bots ship with the barriers 1.2 either side of the entry.
- Expiry Drift measures how far the price has drifted over the last 60 ticks, from the oldest tick to the newest, and ignores the back and forth in between. It scales that drift up to the length of the contract. A projection that reaches past the barrier buys Ends Outside; a smaller one buys Ends Between.
- Expiry Magnet measures how far the price has stretched from its 50-tick average. A stretch of 2 or more buys Ends Between, on the reading that a stretched price tends to come back towards its average. With the price close to its average, it buys Ends Outside.
Stays In / Goes Out. These bots ship with the barriers 2.2 either side of the entry.
- Range Keeper averages the tick-to-tick move over the last 30 ticks and scales it up to the number of ticks in the contract. That is the ground the price is expected to cover. If it reaches the barrier, the bot buys Goes Out; if not, Stays In. At the default settings on Volatility 100 the projection came out far past the barrier on every tick we checked, so it bought Goes Out.
- Channel Escape draws Bollinger Bands over the last 40 ticks, a channel around the price whose width shows how far it usually strays. If that channel is wider than the gap between the two barriers, it buys Goes Out; if narrower, Stays In. At the default settings on Volatility 100 the channel came out narrower on every tick we checked, so it bought Stays In. Together, the two bots cover both sides at the defaults.
The settings that matter
Corridor width. How far each barrier sits from the entry: at 1.2, one barrier is 1.2 above the entry and the other 1.2 below. The table above shows what this does to every payout. Expiry Drift, Range Keeper and Channel Escape compare their reading against this distance, so moving it also changes which side they buy.
Duration (minutes). From 2 to 120, 5 by default. Each contract runs for minutes, so the bot holds one position at a time. The cards say it: "Shorten the duration to turn positions over faster."
Drift ratio, Stretch needed and Escape ratio. The thresholds each bot compares its reading against. On Expiry Drift and Range Keeper, a higher ratio means the bot needs a bigger projected move before it buys the outside side. On Expiry Magnet, a lower stretch means it buys Ends Between more often.
Martingale. These bots ship with a 2.1x martingale and a max stake of 5 USD. The ladder runs 1, 2.1, then 4.41 USD before the max stake sends it back to 1 USD. At the default barriers a win at 4.41 USD repays the run before it on every side: Ends Outside paid 7.78 USD on that stake, a 3.37 USD profit against the 3.10 USD lost on the two trades before it, and the other three sides paid more. Untick Use martingale for a flat stake.
Max losses in a row, stop loss and take profit. The bots stop after 4 losses in a row by default, and once the session is 10 USD down or 10 USD up. Set them to amounts that suit your balance before you run.
Range contracts or Touch / No Touch?
Stays Between / Goes Outside is Touch / No Touch with a barrier on both sides. Touch / No Touch uses one barrier on one side, so it asks how far the price will travel in that one direction. If your read is about how far the market will travel in either direction, the range contracts fit. If it is about how far it will travel one way, see the Touch / No Touch bots guide. For where the price finishes against a single line, see the Higher / Lower bots guide.
Run one now
Open the Ends Between / Ends Outside bots and run Expiry Drift on your demo balance first. It buys both sides as the market drifts and settles, so a short session shows you both outcomes. Set the Duration (minutes) to 2 to see positions settle faster, then move the Corridor width a step at a time and watch the payouts change. For how the martingale ladder works across BinaryTick bots, see the martingale guide.
